I have been associated with Nedlands Primary School since 2009. I currently have two boys at the school, in years 5 and 2. My oldest boy graduated from Nedlands Primary last year.
I have been very active in the school community over this time, regularly volunteering to assist the P&C with the organisation of various social and fundraising events and acting as a class co-ordinator each year. I have a keen interest in Nedlands Primary upholding its strong academic, music and sporting reputation, but more importantly in ensuring that the school provides a friendly, nurturing environment for the students, where they are encouraged to respect, support and be positive with each other.

Classroom Teacher - year 4
Level 3 Teacher
I'm both a primary and secondary qualified teacher and I've loved teaching at Nedlands Primary School for over 20 years.
Previously, I'd taught in metropolitan high schools, then a remote indigenous community in the desert, a remote wheatbelt town (I was married to a Primary Principal in a past life) and also lived in Collie and Carnarvon.
I gained my Level 3 Classroom Teacher status in 2006 and led the Maths Committee, introducing First Steps Maths prior to the Australian Curriculum v1, when we still had a State Maths Syllabus (which I'd helped to write).
I ran the Oracy Australia programme for many years at Nedlands, which must have involved over 1,000 children, independently presenting an oral programme to assessors and their peers.
I've also been involved with moderation of Writing for the Department of Education, and helped review writing exemplars.
I completed my Masters in Education in 2016 at The UWA and have presented my research at state and national forums.
I have two adult daughters. I grew up in a sailing family and have sailed most of my life, winning many club and state titles.
I've served on Nedlands Primary School Council in the past, along with several terms on the Council at Churchlands SHS and several years as secretary of the P&C there.
