School Board Members 2016

Nedlands Primary School
JODII GIANNAS: Parent Representative - Board Chair

Peter and I have three daughters currently enrolled at Nedlands Primary School and have been a part of our school community for over 7 years.  I have been involved in supporting a number of school activities including our Centenary concert, class coordinator, coaching school netball teams, interschool sport and have delivered leadership presentations to students.

I have over 15 years experience as a Psychologist in both the commercial and sporting sectors, (including a number of years as the Human Resources Manager of a large commercial law firm).  I believe I would share and contribute the following skills and experience with our school board;

"    Commercial and strategic planning and focus
"    Strong stakeholder and relationship engagement
"    HR & policy management and leadership development
"    An understanding of the developmental and social needs of young children

I hold a Commence Degree (Management & Marketing) and Psychology Degree (with honours).  I have served on a variety of commercial and not for profit boards, mostly recently on the Board of Unicare, at UWA.

ANNE GRIBBLE - Community Representative

I have three children at Nedlands Primary School, in Years 1, 4 and 6. In the six years I have had children at the school; I have been an active member of the school community. For the past two years, I have been an active School Board member and Chair of the Board for the last year.

Prior to that I was Coordinator Liaison from 2011 to 2013, assisting the School and P&C in its communications with parents and held the Information, Communication and Technology position on the P&C's Executive Committee.

I bring to the School Board extensive professional experience in:
"    Strategy development;
"    Stakeholder and community consultation and market research;
"    Project management;
"    Development and management of Key Result Areas in accordance with business planning; and
"    Budget planning and development,

gained through over 12 years in market research, marketing strategy development and social impact assessments.

I have previously held a position on the Board of Community Arts Network (CAN), which allowed me to contribute to the workings of an effective not-for-profit Board.

It has been an honour to represent the parent body of NPS on the Board over the last two years. I am really excited by the strategic direction that the School is taking and would welcome the opportunity to continue as a School Board member to ensure the planning, budgeting and execution of this direction is continued and results in the best outcomes for our children.

ANNA DAVILA: P & C Endorsed Representative

I am a parent of a Year 6 and Year 4 student at NPS.  My family and I moved from the U.S. to Australia in 2013 where we have made Nedlands our home.

I have participated as a parent volunteer in the P&C, as class coordinator, as crossing warden, and as the Live at Lunch co-sponsor.

Before moving to Perth, I spent 11 years as a career educator in various roles as middle school teacher, curriculum specialist and digital learning specialist.  I have presented at international conferences on STEM education and have travelled to different countries researching best teaching practices in mathematics.   My qualifications include a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Teaching and Learning), an M.Ed. in Mathematics Education, and a Master Mathematics Teacher certification in Years 4-8.   I recently obtained my teacher's registration in Western Australia and teach part time at IONA Presentation College.

I value the education provided to my children at NPS and hope to provide my educational expertise in future board decisions.

FIONA COCKS - Parent Representative

I have been associated with Nedlands Primary School since 2009. I currently have two boys at the school, in years 5 and 2.  My oldest boy graduated from Nedlands Primary last year.

I have been very active in the school community over this time, regularly volunteering to assist the P&C with the organisation of various social and fundraising events and acting as a class co-ordinator each year.  I have a keen interest in Nedlands Primary upholding its strong academic, music and sporting reputation, but more importantly in ensuring that the school provides a friendly, nurturing environment for the students, where they are encouraged to respect, support and be positive with each other.

Professionally, I have over 20 years' experience in the finance and investment banking industry, predominantly at Macquarie Bank in Perth and Sydney and now as a Director at advisory firm, Deloitte, advising clients on corporate finance, commercial and project structuring matters.

In my professional life I am an Associate Principal, School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health for the Department of Education and I have 19 years of teaching and leadership experience across WA and the UK.

Aside from my dedication to helping all young people succeed regardless of health needs or circumstances, I believe in the importance of fathers/father figures in young people's lives and have started involvement with Nedlads in the last 12 months.

I also love the Arts, music, sport, travel and history and values these experiences in children's growth and development.

I am  keen to support the students and community of Nedlands PS through the planning and decision making of the School Board.
