REPORTING REVIEW PROCESS – 2015

TERM 1

Work Sample Package of work samples on only English – all strands other than viewing and Maths – number and measurement strands, will be compiled for sending home.

A ‘tick a box’ sheet at the front of the package indicating the level of performance in English and Maths only i.e:

    1.       Meeting Required Standard and Requiring Additional Assistance. This is in relation to the Acheivement standard.

    2.      Level of effort being displayed

  • All parents of SAER (students at Educational Risk) are involved in an interview during first half of term.
  • Other parents are invited to request an interview if required.

TERMS 2, 3 & 4

Work samples for all learning areas compiled and sent home.  Work should be sent home as it is completed for the purpose of showing parents evidence of achievement towards outcomes.  The frequency of work being sent home is to be:

English:

    Writing draft / published 2/semester
    Reading activity 2/semester
    Viewing 1/semester
Speaking & Listening (check list) 1/semester

Maths:

Working mathematically though Number, Measurement, Space and Chance and Data (at least one of each strand) 6/semester

Science, Society & Environment, Technology & Enterprise and Health:

    1 each/semester of Integrated project 1/term

The overall strand outcomes for each of the Learning Area strands should be included in the file, book or package  (ie with the work samples) that is sent home.  This is to give the parents an understanding of the value of each work sample and where it is applicable to the Curriculum Framework.  This will give parents a reference point throughout the term, when they are viewing the work samples.  Signing space included.

It is advised that a letter to the parents advising them of the themes and up coming events for the term could be sent at the beginning of each term.  This is common practice in many classes.

Where appropriate, work sent home can be kept in a package file (purchased by the students) at school, for use in interviews.  If the work sent home was within a book used daily by the children (Eg maths pad etc) then the “package” would not be used for storage in those instances
