NPS 2021 COVID Update 1: 31 January 2021 2:33pm
Dear Nedlands School Board and Families
As many of you will have already heard from the Premier’s announcement earlier today, a community transmission case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Western Australia. An official statement from the Department of Education has not yet been released that fully outlines the implications for schools, as this comes through, I will email further information immediately.
The following restrictions apply as announced by the Premier, as of 12:56pm today:
- Effective from 6pm tonight, Sunday, 31 January 2021 until 6pm Friday, 5 February, the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel and South West regions will enter a 5-day lockdown, based on health advice.
- Mandatory masks are to be worn in these regions when outside of your home.
- The impact of this on the start of school year will be that all schools in these regions will be closed for the coming week (Monday 1 February 202021 – Friday 5 February 2021) with no students to attend. This will be an extension of the school holiday period with no schoolwork set.
- Nedlands Family Practice, January 29, from 5pm to 6pm has been listed as a potential exposure site. Anyone who have been to these venues on these dates must attend a COVID clinic and be tested.
All communication regarding COVID updates will be communicated via direct email to families. As further updates and information are released, we will email the school community to ensure you are aware of any changes including the return of students to school onsite.

A reminder that now is the time as a community to stay calm, be kind and look out for each other. As always, our priority is to ensure that our children are supported through calm messages and reassurance from families.
